“You know what, you’re pretty but you’re too small”
“Your brother is more handsome than you.”
“If only you had a pointed nose…”

Is there a time when someone tells you these things? Joke or not, these things pierced right through our hearts. Our physical appearance affects our self-esteem because people will either compliment or insult your physical looks.
When someone says something beautiful and flattering about you, it will boost your confidence. But when they insult you---even it's just for fun---you will be hurt that will result in low self-esteem.
Sadly, the standard in our body image was influenced by the media. The sexy models and products we've seen in television made us think that beauty is smooth porcelain skin, pointed nose, slim body, and all perfect attributes only. And a lot of teenagers were swayed by these.
For us to develop a positive body image and enhance our self-esteem, the first thing that we should do is to stop comparing ourselves to others. We are all different and we should not let the media---especially social media---influence us on what should be the standard of beauty. In this way, you will have a positive outlook about your body image. If you can, unfollow Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts that will inflict negative thoughts on your mind.

Second thing, you must embrace yourself wholeheartedly. Accept your flaws, imperfections, and mistakes.
Think of the better ways on how you will improve these flaws into something that you will be proud of. Also, don't let other people dictate what you should do or not with your body. Don't let those negative words engrave on our mind and be a slave of their words, because you'll only suffer.

Lastly, always remember that our Almighty God fearfully and wonderfully made you (Psalms 139:14).
We are made from the image of God and He has amazing plans for you. Maybe some people would just see your physical appearance but more than that, your ‘inner beauty’ will always shine and will last forever. Together with your positive outlook, bring out the ‘inner beauty’ within you with the guidance of our Lord, and may it leave a mark beyond the physical beauty
you possess.
“We don’t always value what God values the most, but if we take the time to peer beneath their innermost beauty, we may find great treasure.”
NO counting calories, NO cutting carbs, NO hours of boring exercise and NO sacrificing delicious foods.
